Project Description
A student will be involved in learning Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) and unsteady Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (URANS) models for simulating turbulent flows around canoe paddles. The free-surface effect will also be taken into account. Our simulations will be performed on parallel computers with up to 108 CPU cores. These simulations will help quantify the propulsive performances of different designs of canoe paddles.
